& Science Partnership
NIMS Summer Institute 2009
The Northwestern Illinois Math
& Science Partnership (NIMS) is planning to offer a summer
institute for 5th-9th grade teachers of math and/or science. The
NIMS program is a federally funded Title II B math/science
professional development program which is funded 100% up to
$189,233 by Title II B Funding.
The three goals for the
Illinois Math & Science Partnership are:
1. Improve
teacher’s subject matter knowledge, strengthen the quality of math
and science instruction and promote student academic achievement in
math and science.
2. Promote strong teaching
skills through access to the expertise of mathematicians,
scientists and engineers.
3. Increase the understanding
and application of scientifically-based educational research
appropriate to mathematics and science teaching and
learning.
